2010 Small Ensemble Festival

Our 2010-2011 instructional season kicks off with a concentration on small ensembles. The small ensemble format gives students an opportunity to develop their skills in a setting that includes more personal instruction. Students will be assigned to an ensemble appropriate to their musical skills. We expect to have the following ensembles this year:

Brass quintet, trumpet quartet, sax quartet, woodwind quintet,

flute quartet, clarinet quartet, percussion ensemble

In any small ensemble, each instrument plays a vital role. Therefore, in order to participate in this festival, each student must be able to attend all four rehearsals and the concert. Any absences must be coordinated with the music director so that we can arrange substitutes if necessary.

The first placement opportunities will be given to the students returning from our 2009-2010 season. We expect to admit new students as space permits. Placement will be by interview or audition at the discretion of the music director.
