2011 “Pork Chop Band” concert

For many years, musicians from Central Indiana have volunteered their time to present a concert at Camp Woodsmoke, which is operated by the Lion’s Club where individuals with special needs can come and have the opportunity to experience the beauty of nature.  This concert is part of “Pork Chop Sunday” activities that raise funds to keep the camp operating. This concert has thrived due to the personal efforts of Maurice Oldham, founder of Musicians Repair and Sales, who still organizes the event and conducts the concert.

While many mentors of the Guild have participated regularly, this year the Guild is expanding our involvement in the camp by organizing the participation of Guild Journeymen and some of our more advanced Apprentices.

This event presents a particular musical challenge for the students because it is performed entirely without rehearsal. This becomes a real world application of the musical skills taught by the Guild mentors each week.
