JazzWorks ...
Pass It On
A series of free clinics where students can learn the art of jazz improvisation.
Each session includes an hour of formal instruction covering some of the basics of music theory that are fundamental to jazz improvisation. Students will learn to identify common patterns in jazz music, scales and modes, common chord progressions and rhythmic elements of jazz styles.
Each session includes an hour of structured practice in a traditional "jam session" format. This allows students to immediately apply the knowledge learned during the formal instruction and to receive feedback and suggestions from experienced jazz performers serving as mentors.
