An Interview with Carolyn Johnson
JJ Johnson is known as one of the most influential trombonists ever. Beyond that, he is widely regarded as one of the leading forces in the modern jazz era, both as a player and composer. JJ was born and raised in Indianapolis. Following a long successful career living in places like New York and Los Angeles, JJ returned to Indianapolis until his death in 2001.
His wife, Carolyn, visited the Guild on March 28, 2007 to speak with the students. Here are excerpts from that interview.
