In this session we will learn about:

• Common song forms
• Some styles and actuations very common in jazz
• How chords are formed and used in jazz
• How to recognize the most common chords: Maj7, min7, and dom7
• Some basic chord relationships to scales
• A simple blues progression
• The blues scale

Scales to learn for this session: C, F, Bb, and G major

We encourage you to practice scales in all 12 keys.  Please see the Circle of Fourths page for some fun practice aids.
